Roto rooter

Roto rooter came out and said we had a busted pipe, they said it was a 2 day job and it took them 4 hours. they charged 3600 to do this job,and then they left and had to come back and had to try to fi it again. now we still have the same problem and they have to come out for the third time in a row,a ridiculous company,a rip off. They made a bigger mess then the one they were hired to fix for us. my grandparents are senior citizens and they were ripped off once again.

Roto Rooter Shafted Me

Roto Rooter was supposed to clear out our main sewer line. They didn't clear anything, but instead, used a camera to show me roots in the line. Of course this is a problem and the pipe should at some point be replaced. But they just left the roots in the pipe and gave me an estimate of $5000 to replace the line. After repeated phone calls to various customer service people, technicians, and the regional manager, they are unwilling to use a cutting head on a snake to cut through the roots. Did I mentioned I already paid them $514 to clear the line? What it all comes down to is that I paid them $500 for an estimate to replace the line. I don't care what can or can't be done to fix the problem, this is just wrong.

Wow, S2ER Management, that was quite a mountain of ASSumption there!

Guest

rotor rooter has alot of unlicensed plumber charging doctor prices ask for his license after job complete then call state inspector

Guest

depending on the access and the amount of bends in your sewer it maybe impossable to remove all the roots in a sewer line. if you have a 4" sewer it would be very hard to get a 4" cutter around many bends are a trap even. your expectations maybe a little to high and a little unfair to roto-rooter.if a supposed (local or cheaper plumber says anything else well then you got what you paid for or heard what you want to hear).

Guest

S2ER Management, your assumptions and accusations are incorrect. This is the first (and last) time I've ever called Roto Rooter at this address or any other.

Roto Rooter does not warrant their work on a defective sewer such as this, and I would not expect any freebies now or in the future. I do expect them to put my $514 to good use and give me a temporary fix to the problem.

Guest

Jordie;

Our firm is a competitor of Roto Rooter but after reading your story something is missing. I would bet you are only telling half the story. Let me fill in the rest and you tell me if I am wrong. Roto Rooter came out a cleared a stoppage prior the the one you are complaining about and told you that you had a root problem so the cleaning was only short term solution to a long term problem. But you being a smart consumer thinks "hey Roto Rooter has a warranty so when the roots grow back, which they do, I will just keep calling Roto Rooter for free under the terms of the warranty to clear the roots for ever for the one time payment of $514". Great deal for you but a bad deal for Roto Rooter but what the hey "businesses beware of Jordie", right?

When you called Roto Rooter the next time the sewer stopped and Roto Rooter videoed the line and found the roots had returned. So Roto Rooter looked at the prior invoice and warranty and guess what Roto Rooter had seen your scam before and covered the root issue in the warranty so you were SOL and now you are mad that you were found out but you will get your revenge on the internet. PLUMBERS BEWARE OF JORDIES

A local plumber can do this for you for cheaper than a company like Roto Rooter.

Support your local businesses, hire a local licensed and bonded plumber.

Got the shaft because of my water heater!

My water heater wasn't leaking. The heating elements were bad and had to be replaced. Two ***-clowns posing as plumbers by the name of Willie and Sal came over and sized up the job and went to a parts house to buy the elements. When they returned they couldn't get the elements into the heater for some reason. They said that since the heater is twelve years old the replacement parts which are supposed to be universal for the heater brand are no longer an exact fit. So it also winds up being the fault of the parts house . Since I didn't know what would happen I consented to having the entire heater replaced. The cost of the job went from $600 to $1900 dollars. If you live anywhere in Fairfield or New Haven County of southern Connecticut and you call this company and these two pieces of work show up lock your doors and tell them to get lost! They're ***-artists!

They may have well not been licensed and if this is so...you may be due a refund. You can check the #s on the government website.

Guest

Ummm, they were right. 12 years old???

You would be an *** to put money into it. Lets suppose they could replace the elements and within a year the tank busted. The manufacturer only guarantees it for 6 years.

You would be on here complaining that they fixed it when it was quite obvious that it needed to be replaced. Some people you just can't please!

Roto-Rooter Scam !

I wakedup in the morning to find our main sewer line was cloaked up, i watched Undercover Boss last week and though to myself, the CEO is such a nice guy, Roto-Rooter cant be that bad... well, i was wrong, i called in and got a appointment for a free consultation, what a waste of time. Jose from Mexico came and asked me where the main acess to the sewer line is outside the house, i played *** standing right next to it telling him i dont know anything about plumming. So Jose inspected the house from all sides and under telling me i have no connector outside, so he needs to dig up the front to place a connector, $1100 , nice, after i told him thats too expensive Jose, he said he could acess it from teh roof vent, for only $419. Well, after he finished i had him write that all down, onle finished i took him outside and showed him teh acess point to the sewer, he kind of looked *** asking me what the *** i am thinking setting him up. I told him to wait. I went into my house taking the old Rifle i have hanging in teh living room, not loaded and disabled. You havent see a plummer running that fast ever. So yeah, bottom line, Roto Rooter is consistent of a buncha thiefs who will rip off grandma and anyone who is *** enough to believe they are here to help. I am from Germany, over there we handle things different, this company would not survive a week over there.

If Europe is so much better, why are you here? Nothing against immigrants, but I don't understand why you would come here then claim your country is so much better.

Also, If your neighbor had a snake, why did you call a plumber? Of course its no cost.

I could pay my neighbors kid to cut my grass but why would I when I can do it myself. Lastly, you pull a gun on me, yea, I may run, but I would be sure to return with a cop to have your *** locked up.

Guest

This is a real story , like it or not

And yes, this is America you made, i am from Europe and we are better then you in any aspect

Guest

servante you are an ***,i work for RR too and we're better off without customers like you.what are you doing next week, calling the town *** to see if she'll charge you the extra hour it took to find your wrinkled noodle?By the way,I'm a US VETERAN and this is America, love it or leave it ***

Guest

i bet it took this guy longer to write the story but next time you have a sewer problem , call your neighbor to see if he is having a problem , then call the city or your bartender in this case, If at this point you cannot figure it out call the men at RR. they tell you what the flat rates are and if you don't like it bid them farewell and call whoever else u got.Better still Home Depot can help only if u can do it. i work for The big RR and i approve this message

Guest

:?

Guest

And btw, my Neighboar noticed whats going on and came over with his snake, we did it ourself, took us 5 minutes, cost = bottle of beer

Guest

That story is trough and happend the date posted, why i did not tell him where the acess point is... simple, thats how you find out if a service guy knows his job and does not try to scam you. I am sure he saw it, he just played dumb.

Looks more to me then you Mike are Affiliated with Roto Rooter and try to cover up here, maybe Mike Diamond Plumming ? same as of an scam company as Roto.

The story is through and i wished i had a hidden camera, would be a nice afternoon story for the news.

That is the worst made up story ever why would you pay 419 dollars for someone to go on the roof when you could have saved money by showing him the clean-out.plumbers beeare of servantes he is a story teller

Roto Rooter Sucks!!!

Roto Rooter is the worst company ever!! I called and booked an appt.

with them yesterday to come out to my house and snake the pipes. The customer service representative said someone would be here between 8-10 a.m. and I agreed to be here. So, my husband and I sat at home waiting for someone to show up.

By 10:30 a.m., no one had showed. I called their toll-free number to find out what happened and they said that someone tried calling me in the morning to confirm the app. and since no one answered they went on to another job. My phone was upstairs this whole time, so I hadn't checked it.

I am pissed!! I wasted my time waiting for these *** and they didn't even show. Besides, I had already confirmed the day before that I'd be here. So, why the heck do need to re-confirm that I'm going to be here??

I already gave them my word the day before that I'd be home. The customer serivce rep NEVER mentioned to me when I made the appt. that someone would be calling to confirm teh appt. the next day.

if they had told me that, then I would have had my phone near me where I could hear it ring. This is terrible customer service!!!

If someone commits to being home during a certain time period, they should honor that and show up!!! Fricking ***....I'm NEVER using them again!!

Rotor Rooter SUX big time. They are rip-off kings.

I went to them TWICE. The second time, my kitchen sink water would not turn off. The tech charged me 240.00 to "rebuild" the faucet. All he did was take it apart, add a new ball bearing and a cheap washwer.

The sink was fixed but now I have a drip in the faucet.

I could have bought a new FAUCET set from home depot for 40 bucks and had THEM install it for 100.00 and save 100 bucks. Do NOT call ROTO-ROOTER EVER.

Guest

these guys that work for roto rooter are really ignorant.. they are the same guys that rip u off when they get to your house.."oh well you didnt cacel your appointment" but YOU replaced my sewer line when it didnt need to be..losers

Guest

Please check your invoices against massachusetts license check on the government website. If they did plumbing work,or cut pipes they need a license. If thier not licensed then they committed fraud.

Guest

Called on laundry sink not draining properly and as usual they would not give a price on phone but would in person. He quoted $425.00 which I said was too high based on another price and he said that would be the highest.

To qualify this price, he cut a pipe and said he would put a clamp around it because it should have one and would help in the future. He tried snaking through that pipe but nothing there. I said why aren't you snaking under the sink where the trap is, well he eventually went there and that is where the clog was. He made a big show and production of earning whatever he would charge and all for 1 hour of time.

Had he snaked the trap first, would have taken 30 minutes but not that it mattered, their prices are way out of control.

I said to him I was not paying $425.00 and he said "oh I am not charging you that, your fee is $369.00. For one hour and to snake a drain?

Well, wait for your local plumber who will be cheaper...I will never recommend this company to anyone.

Guest

I called Roto Rooter for Cloged Drain . A 40 Year expeianced Plumber showes yp and said he cant unclog the line becuase of a Grease trap??

Jonesboro, GA The RotoRooter serviceman, Bob, came to our house on 3/27/10 to open our sewer line. When I called the company, I asked how much it would cost for serviceman to come out.

They said they couldn't tell me until he got there. When he got here, the first thing he said was the price was $349.95 to use the camera and unclog the line. He also said that if any further work was required, this amount would be deducted from that total. I asked about the senior citizen discount/military discount, which we qualified for both, that is on their Yellow Pages ad.

He acted like we were asking for free service and said he'd give us the senior discount but couldn't give us both. Okay. Then he showed us a root ball at one junction in our line and said he was only able to break through *** the size of a 1/2 dollar and that if we used our toilet, sewage would back up into our house. Then he said they could have a crew out "today" to dig up that one spot and replace that fitting and 2' of pipe for $2500, minus the $315 we'd already paid.

I asked about the senior discount on this amount and was told that RotoRooter won't give two discounts and since we got a discount on the service of $349.95, he couldn't discount the $2500 charge. I told him it was on their web site and it seemed to me if they offer a senior discount, it should be for the entire amount not the cheapest part. He got belligerent and said he could *** the credit for the $314 paid and give us the senior 10% discount on the $2500 if that is what I wanted!! And he said he did not have to credit the $314 to the total.

He was just doing us a favor. He was angry and his face was red. I was very upset and my blood pressure was up just from the sudden expense of $2,850 to repair our sewer lines. I didn't need this attitude and I told him we'd find someone cheaper.

He was a rude in his attitude and as he left, he said "Thanks" sarcarstically. We found another company and found that there were two other places with roots that he had missed with his camera. If we'd had just that 2' portion repaired, we would have had to have it done again very soon. We had the entire line replaced for $1650 and it was worth it and they were nice.

Will never call them again. I also think they called some local plumbing companies and blacklisted this address as we had a problem with another company. They gave us an estimate of $1300 until the serviceman called it in and he said he read the "book" wrong and the charge now would be $3400. Sent him packing, too.

That was RooterPLUS also Inspector Drain, Inc.

Another plumbing company I called asked if I'd had it checked already and I told her RotoRooter and after asking some questions, she told me never to call that number again. That was Plumbers United.

Guest

I'll wait for my plumber next time. Roto rooter would not even honor their guarantee and re-rod within 6 months.

Well those *** bags are explaining it to the Attorney General's office. And as someone else said the price was crazy, I'll wait next time.

And for the pro-roto rooter folks I hope you are out of work very soon, you all SUCK too. :(

Mr. Steve called for service on Tuesday morning 7/13.

He specifically requested service for 9:30 to 1:30 the following day. As is our practice, the dispatcher called the only number that he provided at 9:20am to let him know that the plumber was on the way and to confirm his availability for service. He did not answer the phone so the Dispatcher left him a message asking him to return the call. He did not return the call.

At 11:57, the Dispatcher attempted again with the same result. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Steve left me a message stating that if my employee showed up he would not let him in the house.

I returned his call and when I spoke to him it was obvious that he was unaware of the two messages left earlier. We do provide great service but the customers need to be available to receive us.

Customer cleans up the ***.

Roto Rooter came out to clear up a blockage in my sewage pipe. Two days later it backed up again spilling raw sewage on the basement floor. Both times the technition came out he did not have a shop vacuum and the last time left the mess on the floor for the customer to clean up. I contacted customer service with three calls to get someone back out to clean this up. My shop vacuum broke cleaning up the first mess before the guy arrived. I told them I needed the guy to have a shop vacuum I was ignored. Talked to three supervisors and received no calls back. Maybe the fastest guy out when you call is not the best. Maybe Roto Rooter is so fast because they leave the customer to clean up the ***

Over charged

Sewer backed up into basement bathroom at Kirkland rental house. Roto Rooter send camera down the line, said it was a broken pipe, and asked us to authorize up to $9100 in costs. Once they started digging, they changed the problem to replace a back flush valve - exact same cost $9100. Because it was an emergency, we authorized the repair. Afterwards, I have received ball park estimates of the work in the $3000 range. They severely overcharged us in an emergency situation. Insurance excludes this type of repair - the pipe was in the yard, not in the house. The house is on city sewer.

I also had Roto Rooter send a camera down the line and tell me that the pipe was broken and it would be about $5800 to fix it and it was an emergency. I did not authorize this work right away because I did not have access to the funds right away.

Two day after they were at my home, I decided to check with another plumber and was informed that the line was not broken. Fortunately, I was able to save myself $5800; however, I still had to pay them $407 to come out and tell me the pipe was broken and then another $150 for another plumber to tell me that the pipe is not broken.

Do not use Roto Rooter!!!

Roto Rooter came out on March 2nd and fixed some plumbing issues for me and I thought they were fixed until the problem happened again and when I went down to check the guys work, he had rigged it so it would work temporarily, it cost us $296, thank gosh I had went to their site and printed a $30 off coupon or it would have been $326, anyway they told us that they would come out and fix it so they sent someone like a week or two later and he didn't get to finish fixing it because he said that he was going to have to install all new piping in that section because of what the previous guy had done and he couldn't believe what the other guy had done in the first place and the amount that he charged us for it, the Monday morning that the guy was going to come and finish he called and said that he was going to have to reschedule and that his boss wouldn't let him just fix it that we would have to pay for it, so I requested for the boss to call me but he refused the guy told me so I finally got him talked into rescheduling for Wednesday and the boss said to tell me that they would just take care of it, so on Tuesday night the guy calls to reschedule again and I told him no because I should be ahead of the new customers since my plumbing is still messed up. Also during this time the guy that messed up the plumbing in the first place has been calling and harassing me about the work that he did so I told him not to call me again that it is his fault not mine that this happened. So finally the boss calls me and says that they have to clean out port o Johns at BMS and said that they could come on Friday so I reluctantly agreed. So I just got another call from them and they are not wanting to come tomorrow, they are wanting to reschedule again. I can't seem to get anywhere and the only thing I want is what I paid for in the first place!

Rotor Rooter Scam

WE called the 800 number a year or so ago for Rotor Rooter to fix a few problems we were having in our bathroom. A older gentlemen arrived and my husband went into the bathroom with him to show him what needed repaired. Well, I guess in conversing my husband mentioned he did some auto mechanic work. The next thing I know, the Rotor Rooter employee comes out and informs me that since my husband fiddled around with car repair, he should be able to fix our bathroom. The man left and did not do a thing. My bathroom is still not fixed.

Roto Rooter Plumbing Services

3-9-10 Bathroom Drain clogged, Estimate $600. Tenant Paid final bill for $838.15 after an hour and a half's work from the ground cleanout PVC in front of the kitchen. I called and was told a Roto Rooter manager would get back to me, hasn't happened. I called several other plumbers and was quoted $300-$400. to jett out and degrease the sewer line. Roto Rooter comes in at over twice everyone else's price with an BILL 40% above that quoted. Just a joke Roto Rooter

Happened today January 18th. Called on a clogged drain in a house I rent out. I went there to clear the drain and almost succeeded. Cleared alot of grease that had hardened and some of tne water was starting to drain. Ran out of time and my tenents needed it done. Called them and they said they could come out for a free estimate. Left them my number on my cell and went on my way. Never got a call. Called my tenent that evening and he said they cleared it out in several minutes but kept the machine running for quite awhile after the sink had drained. He said they were there 45 minutes. OK I'm thinking good, until he tells me it cost me $298.45....Rape

maybe the tenant said to do it because the landlord is a cheapfuck and it's been clogged for a month and don't worry about it we'll take the 300 off the rent.if you were willing to pay 150 why didn't you, because your greedy and want it done for free.i'm glad RR stood fast and didn't lose their spine and drop their prices when all these i want to be a plumber companies popped up.you get what you pay for, wake up.i'm sure you charge a pretty penny for the rent

It's sad that these posters blame the landlord. He left his cell # but of course the Roto Rooter tech didn't call to tell him they were ripping him off for a job he could have paid $150 for and gotten a guarantee.

They were supposed to get approval first, but they knew they would loose the job the minute they told him the price.

Nobody expects a job done for free, but if they weren't ripping him off they would have called the landlord fist.

"The landlord technically doesn't even have to pay the bill because they didn't get approval and his signature before doing the work.

Guest

Sounds like your the typical landlord..

i'm sorry that people fell plumbers and other people that work in the trade business should work for pennies on the dollar. People are always looking to get over and pay the cheapest price. No matter how hard a man works the price is always to high....please...

Roto Rooter flooded our house after botched water heater job

Dealing with the Roto Rooter in Northern Virginia has been an absolute nightmare. We called them to fix a faulty water heater and the technician said we just needed to fix a part. We trusted his judgment, had the part fixed, thought all was well. Wrong - water kept leaking without our knowledge until a few days later we noticed signs of water damage on the ceilings and carpet of 3 floors of our townhouse (water heater is on 3rd floor). Called Roto Rooter back and this time the production manager, Ron Shifflett, came along with the technician. Immediately the manager said the technician should have put in a new water heater in the first place and told us the admin office would contact us to straighten the issue out. We said, fine, they put in a new water heater, and left after getting our money. Now we were left to deal with the damages to our home, spending a LOT of $$ to dry carpets/dry walls/ceilings, painting, putting in new carpet - a complete nightmare financially and otherwise. And we NEVER heard back from Roto Rooter regarding the mistake they made - no compensation for the botched job whatsoever, they won't take our calls or answer our emails. Tried reaching their General Manager in Northern Virginia, Calvin Williams without so much as an acknowledgment. When we finally heard back from the Production Manager, Ron Shifflett, he says the reason for the leak was the water heater pan was too small - not even a sensible argument - and refused to acknowledge what he himself said while doing the job, which was that the severity of the leak was the technician's fault for not replacing the water heater when we called them the first time. If you are in the Northern Virginia area, do yourself a favor and DO NOT use Roto Rooter. If their technicians mess something up they will deny it, take your money and run. Don't trust them. I learned the hard way.

Beware of Roto-Rooter Plumbers

We called Roto-Rooter to check a problem with our sewage system. They came and charged us over $600.00 for the repair. Four weeks later the problem was back. We called them again and this time they said that to repair it "properly" it would cost $1,750.00. When we got their invoice (hand written saying"pump track, parts, labor, helper, etc.) it was $2,331.53! When questioned they said the "price of the pump went up some $100.00" but showed no concern over the fact that their original repair did nothing or their second estimate going up by 33% without even telling us beforehand! We will never use this company again and we want to share our experience so others may avoid a super expensive rip-off by these well advertised "professionals" JAL Hattiesburg,MS
